I feel like the more the industry expands, the harder it gets to answer a simple question: is early access still worth it in 2025? Truth be told, players keep Googling things like “should you buy early access games”, “is early access safe”, and “why early access fails”, because the model still feels like a gamble. Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s a mess.

So here’s the clean, no-nonsense version of what you’re actually getting into this year.

—

Why Early Access Still Exists in 2025

In my opinion, early access isn’t just an indie lifeline anymore. It’s become a normal release strategy for projects that want community feedback, long-term testing, or budget stability. The problem is that the term covers both near-finished games and barely functional prototypes. What worked in 2015 doesn’t always work now.

Which means you need a sharper filter.

Number of early access releases on steam each year

—

The Real Pros of Early Access (5 Clear Wins)

1. You get to play anticipated games earlier.
This is the simple appeal. If you want in before the hype peaks, early access gives you that. People searching “best early access games 2025” are chasing this exact feeling.

2. Often cheaper than the final launch price.
Not guaranteed, but common enough to matter. If you buy early, you can sometimes save real money compared to full release.

3. Your feedback can shape development.
Good teams listen. If you care about balance, UI changes, or quality-of-life features, early access gives you a voice.

4. Strong communities form early and stay active.
For survival games, roguelites, and co-op titles, early access often creates the most passionate player base. If you like active Discord groups or modding scenes, this is where they start.

5. You can refund if the game doesn’t match its page.
Steam’s refund policy covers early access. People search “can you refund early access” constantly, so I’ll keep it simple. If it runs poorly or feels misleading, refund it. No guilt.

—

The Cons Nobody Likes to Admit (5 Real Risks)

1. Some games never reach 1.0.
This is the big one. Search patterns like “early access abandoned” exist for a reason. Projects stall. Budgets evaporate. Teams quit.

2. Stability can be frustratingly inconsistent.
Crashes, memory leaks, broken saves. If you’re sensitive to performance issues, early access can be rough.

3. Content gaps can make a promising game feel empty.
The core loop might be great, but missing biomes, missing story, or missing progression can kill the excitement fast.

4. Roadmaps are often vague or unrealistic.
If a game promises everything and delivers nothing, you’re stuck waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

5. Updates can slow down without warning.
Players constantly search “is X still being updated” because patch momentum matters. Long gaps in communication are usually a bad sign.

Duration of Time Development for Games in Steam Early Access

—

When You Should Actually Wait Instead of Buying

I’m not an expert, but there are a few cases where I always recommend waiting.

1. When the devs promise rapid updates but have no shipped track record.
New teams aren’t bad, but they’re unpredictable.

2. When the content is closer to a tech demo than a game.
If buyers say “just wait six months”, I listen.

3. When performance is unstable on mid-range hardware.
Search intent spikes around “can X run on my PC”, so if early benchmarks look rough, waiting pays off.

—

So How Do You Tell If an Early Access Game Is Worth Buying?

I’m not an expert, but here’s what I actually check.

A clear, realistic roadmap.

Consistent updates, not promises.

Honest store-page descriptions.

Real gameplay depth in the current build.

Developers who communicate like humans, not marketers.

If a game ticks these boxes, it’s usually safe. If it doesn’t, I wait.

<img decoding="async" srcset="https://thegamingfoundry.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/time-1024x611.webp ,https://thegamingfoundry.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/time.webp 780w, https://thegamingfoundry.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/time.webp 360w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 480px) 150px" src="https://thegamingfoundry.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/time-1024x611.webp" alt="Bar chart showing time spent in development for some of the most popular early access titles. Some of them are still not fully released.

—

Refunds Are Your Safety Net, So Use Them

Most players forget this. Steam’s refund policy exists for early access too. If the game runs poorly or feels misleading, refund it. You’re not being rude. You’re being a smart buyer.

Searching “can you refund early access” is common enough that it’s worth saying this clearly: yes, you can.

—

So Is Early Access Worth It in 2025?

Sometimes. Not always. It comes down to your tolerance for unfinished content and how badly you want to be an early player. Early access can be a great deal when the project is stable, updated often, and clear about its goals. It’s a gamble when the foundation is shaky.

For me, the rule is simple. Buy early access only if you would still enjoy the game as it is today. Not as it might be later.

The post Early Access in 2025: A Simple Guide to Making Safe Purchases first appeared on GamingFoundry.

So Nintendo finally made a proper tool for checking Switch 2 compatibility. I feel like half the internet has been holding its breath, hoping their backlog wouldn’t turn into a museum.

This guide walks you through how to use the compatibility checker, which games are likely to run fine, why some titles misbehave, and the practical steps to transfer saves and purchases. If you’re upgrading, bookmark this. If you’re still deciding, read on.

How to Use the Official Switch 2 Compatibility Checker

Nintendo’s lookup page is the fastest way to verify Switch 2 compatibility for any title in your library. Type the name of your game, and it’ll show one of three statuses: supported, unsupported, or partially compatible.

Supported: works normally, saves transfer fine, and DLC runs as expected.

Partially compatible: the game launches but has some missing features (motion control, IR camera, etc.).

Unsupported: it won’t boot or has major issues.

If your favorite game sits in the middle category, don’t panic yet; developers can still push updates later.

Which Switch Games Work on Switch 2

Big first-party titles are mostly safe. Anything from Nintendo’s core lineup (Zelda, Mario, Pokémon, etc.) has already been tested and confirmed. Games that have received patches in the past few years also tend to show up as “supported” in the Switch 2 compatibility list.

Smaller indie titles, or early-era Switch releases, are less predictable. Some rely on quirks of the old hardware that just don’t translate to the new system. If you’re unsure, check each one manually. I know it’s tedious, but that’s the only reliable method right now.

Why Some Games Don’t Work on Switch 2

This isn’t some corporate conspiracy; it’s just how hardware evolves. The Switch 2 compatibility tool shows how different the new internals are. The upgraded Joy-Cons use updated sensors, the processor is faster, and certain timing tricks that older games depended on don’t behave the same way.

Games that used motion controls or camera inputs may need an update from the developers. Some will get patched soon; others, especially from smaller studios, probably won’t.

When Switch 2 Compatibility Improves Performance

Here’s the good part: for the games that do work, you might see smoother performance. Community reports already show noticeable frame-rate improvements and faster load times.

So yes, Switch 2 compatibility isn’t just about playing old games; it can actually make them better. You’ll likely see sharper visuals and more stable performance in titles that were previously struggling on the base Switch.

How to Move Saves and Purchases to Switch 2

Nintendo’s Switch 2 transfer guide is straightforward once you know where to look. Your digital purchases are tied to your Nintendo account, so you can just re-download them on the new console.

For saves, you’ve got two options:

Cloud saves through Nintendo Online – safest and easiest.

Local console transfer – best for physical-only players or if you’re skipping the cloud.

Physical cartridges still work as long as the game is listed as supported in the Switch 2 compatibility list, but you’ll need to download patches again for DLC or online content.

Troubleshooting Common Compatibility Issues

If a supposedly supported game crashes or shows input lag, try this:

Check for the latest patch or firmware update.

Test it with default Joy-Con settings.

Reinstall the game’s update data.

If a title is listed as partially compatible due to peripherals, try remapping inputs. Unsupported games are trickier; you’ll need to wait for a developer fix or keep using your old console.

Which Developers Are Updating Their Games

First-party Nintendo titles will always get attention. Ubisoft, Capcom, and Square Enix are already confirming patches for their major games.

Smaller developers might not have the resources, though. That’s why Switch 2 compatibility status could change over time. Keep checking the official list every few weeks.

If there’s a specific game you want fixed, reach out to the developer on social media. Public demand has already convinced some studios to prioritize updates.

What to Do Right Now

Before you upgrade, take ten minutes to:

Visit the official Switch 2 compatibility checker.

Test every title you actually plan to replay.

Move your most important saves.

Note any games listed as incompatible and contact their publishers.

This is your chance to make the jump without losing progress or your favorite weekend comfort games.

Switch 2 Compatibility FAQ

How do I check if my Switch games work on Switch 2?
Visit Nintendo’s official compatibility lookup page and search your game by title. It will show whether it’s supported, unsupported, or partially compatible.

Can I move my Switch saves to Switch 2?
Yes. Use the Switch 2 transfer guide or cloud saves. Some local saves may need a direct console transfer.

Will all Switch games get updated for Switch 2 compatibility?
No. Major titles probably will, but smaller or older games might stay incompatible.

Do Switch cartridges still work on Switch 2?
Many do, but not all. Check the Switch 2 compatibility list before assuming. DLC and online features may need new downloads.

Switch 2 Compatibility FAQ: Will Your Favorite Games Work and Can You Transfer Saves?

Will Elden Ring work on Switch 2?
FromSoftware hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but there’s been chatter about an Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition potentially landing on Switch 2. It’s not official, so take that with a grain of salt. That said, if the new hardware really is close to a PS4 Pro or Steam Deck in power, it’s not impossible. The bigger question is whether the devs think the audience is large enough to justify the port.

Can I move my Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom save file to Switch 2?
Nintendo hasn’t explained how saves will carry over yet. Most players assume cloud saves will still work through Nintendo Online, just like they do now. If that’s the case, your progress should come with you automatically. Physical users might need manual transfer tools, depending on how Nintendo handles local saves this time.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Switch 2?
No plans have been announced. CD Projekt RED never brought the game to the current Switch for obvious reasons, but with new hardware, it’s not out of the question. Still, it’s safer to expect no version confirmed until the devs or Nintendo say otherwise.

Will Call of Duty finally return to Nintendo with Switch 2?
Yes, at least that’s the plan. Microsoft made a public commitment to bring Call of Duty titles to Nintendo systems after the Activision Blizzard acquisition. It’s widely assumed that the Switch 2 will be the platform to make that happen. No release window yet, but this one’s more than rumor.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 coming to Switch 2?
Right now, Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, not on Switch. Larian Studios has said the current Switch isn’t powerful enough, but the Switch 2 might change that. There’s no official word, but given how well it runs on handheld PCs, it’s an easy “maybe later.”

Will Joy-Cons work on Switch 2?
Nintendo hasn’t confirmed hardware compatibility yet. Historically, they’ve tried to keep accessories somewhat forward-compatible, but the next-gen Joy-Cons could include upgraded rumble or wireless tech. So while they might work, expect small changes or at least a new revision.

Will Monster Hunter Wilds release on Switch 2?
Capcom confirmed Monster Hunter Wilds for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but not for any Nintendo console so far. Given how huge Monster Hunter Rise was on Switch, a port after launch seems likely, though nothing’s official yet.

Can I play my digital Switch library on Switch 2?
Nintendo hasn’t made any promises about full backward compatibility, but it would be a PR disaster if they didn’t allow digital carry-over. The safest bet is that your purchases will stay linked to your Nintendo Account, though older cartridges might need a software patch to work properly.

Will Mario Kart 9 run on Switch 2?
Nintendo hasn’t announced Mario Kart 9 yet, so no official word on Switch 2 compatibility. If it releases in the future, it’s safe to assume the game will be fully supported given Nintendo’s history with first-party titles.

Can I carry over Animal Crossing: New Horizons saves to Switch 2?
Official transfer methods haven’t been confirmed, but cloud saves via Nintendo Online should work. Local saves may require a direct console-to-console transfer, similar to current Switch migrations.

Is Metroid Prime 4 confirmed for Switch 2?
No official announcement yet. Development is ongoing, and a Switch 2 release is possible, but Nintendo hasn’t confirmed a date or compatibility details.

Will Pokémon Scarlet and Violet work on Switch 2 without updates?
These games are expected to run, but patches may be required for full performance optimization. Nintendo’s compatibility checker will clarify which features might need updates.

Can I use my current Switch controllers on Switch 2?
Likely, but not guaranteed. Historically, Nintendo maintains accessory compatibility, but new features like upgraded HD Rumble or motion controls may require updated Joy-Cons.

Are DLCs from old Switch games compatible on Switch 2?
Generally yes, if the base game is listed as supported in the Switch 2 compatibility list. DLC may require re-downloads or patches for proper functionality.

Will Smash Bros Ultimate be fully supported on Switch 2?
Almost certainly, given it’s a major first-party Nintendo title. Expect full support for gameplay, online features, and DLC, though performance improvements are possible.

Can I play my digital indie games library on Switch 2?
If the games are listed as supported in the Switch 2 compatibility list, yes. Older or niche indie titles may have issues if they relied on hardware quirks of the original Switch.

Will Splatoon 3 performance improve on Switch 2?
Supported titles often benefit from faster hardware. Splatoon 3 may see smoother framerates, quicker loading, and more stable online performance, depending on patches.

Are Nintendo eShop purchases transferable to Switch 2?
Yes, your purchases are tied to your Nintendo Account. You should be able to re-download all compatible games, though some titles may require patches or updates.

Do retro Virtual Console games run on Switch 2?
Most should, especially if they’re included in the Nintendo Switch Online library. Compatibility will depend on Nintendo’s emulation framework for Switch 2.

Will third-party AAA titles like Assassin’s Creed work on Switch 2?
Some third-party AAA games may require optimization for Switch 2. Check the official compatibility list for each title, as older ports may not run without patches.

Can I share my Switch 2 game library with multiple consoles?
Yes, through Nintendo’s account system. Digital games can typically be shared, but simultaneous play may be restricted depending on licensing.

Will The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild run better on Switch 2?
Yes, it’s confirmed that most first‐party Switch games (including Zelda titles) are supported on Switch 2, and performance improvements (frame rate, load times) are expected.

Will Super Mario Odyssey work on Switch 2 without a patch?
It’s listed as compatible, but a patch may still optimise features like motion controls or HDR output. Always check the official Switch 2 compatibility list before assuming “no update needed.”

Will Super Smash Bros. Ultimate get enhanced graphics on Switch 2?
The game is compatible, and we already have reports of bug‑fix patches for Switch 2. Whether full “enhanced version” is coming remains unannounced, but performance boosts are plausible.

Can I use my original Joy‑Con controllers for Ring Fit Adventure on Switch 2?
Yes, but caution: games that rely on IR camera, motion sensors or special accessories may need original Joy‑Cons. Some games (like Ring Fit) might run only with first generation controllers even on Switch 2.

Will Mario Kart 8 Deluxe support 60fps on Switch 2?
While no official promise yet, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a high‑profile title with full compatibility. Given the power bump in Switch 2, 60fps is a realistic expectation, keep watch for updates.

Does Pokémon Sword & Shield work seamlessly on Switch 2?
Yes, the base games run (Switch 2 supports most first‑party titles), but any online integration, DLC or future content may benefit from a Switch 2 patch to ensure “seamless”.

Will Splatoon 3 benefit from Switch 2 compatibility and run smoother?
Absolutely possible. It’s supported, and players expect that popular multiplayer games will be optimised for the newer hardware to maintain competitive performance.

Can my Smash Fighters DLC from the original Switch carry over to Switch 2?
Yes, if Nintendo supports the game (as it does with Smash Ultimate), your DLC and online profile will migrate through your Nintendo Account. Always double-check the compatibility status.

Is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom safe to play on Switch 2 from day one?
Yes, Nintendo includes it in the compatibility list as a major first‑party IP, but developers may release patch notes to further polish performance or fix hardware‑specific issues on Switch 2.

Final Thoughts

For me, the launch of the Switch 2 compatibility tool feels like Nintendo finally acknowledging how important the existing Switch library really is. It’s not perfect, but it’s honest, and that’s more than we usually get.

My advice? Check your games early, move your saves, and keep that compatibility page bookmarked. Chances are, your old favorites will look and run better than ever.

It’s wild to think Morrowind came out over twenty years ago, and people are still playing it daily. Yet here we are. Thousands of players exploring Vvardenfell, releasing new quests, textures, and gameplay tweaks like it dropped yesterday. It’s not nostalgia keeping it alive; it’s how endlessly moddable and weirdly timeless the game feels.

If you’ve ever wondered, can you still play Morrowind in 2025, the answer is yes, and not only that, you can make it look and run better than ever. Whether you’re using Windows 10 or playing Morrowind on Windows 11, the process is straightforward. You just need one essential upgrade that modern players can’t live without.

OpenMW: The Only Right Way to Play Morrowind Today

Let’s be clear: OpenMW isn’t just a nice upgrade, it’s a must-have.

If you’ve searched what OpenMW is or how to install OpenMW, here’s the short version: it’s a modern, open-source recreation of the original Morrowind engine that makes the game run flawlessly on modern hardware. It fixes hundreds of old bugs, supports widescreen and 4K, and makes heavy modding actually stable.

Put simply, the best way to play Morrowind in 2025 (or 2026, or 2030) is with OpenMW. It’s free, it’s fast, and it turns one of the best RPGs ever made into something that actually feels modern.

OpenMW’s improved lighting and post-processing breathe new life into Morrowind’s interiors — subtle bloom, shadow depth, and ambient light make even a simple room feel atmospheric.

How to Install OpenMW (Quick Guide for 2025)

If you’ve never installed OpenMW before, don’t worry, this part’s easy. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to install OpenMW and start playing Morrowind on Windows 11 or any other platform:

Buy Morrowind – Steam, GOG, or your old physical copy will do fine.

Install Morrowind normally.

Download OpenMW from openmw.org – get the latest stable build.

Run vanilla Morrowind through OpenMW once, with no mods, to make sure everything works.

Set your install and mod paths in the OpenMW launcher.

Pick a mod list if you want guidance, OpenMW’s official site has curated lists that range from “vanilla-plus” to total overhaul.

Run the folder deploy script if your list includes one.

Use 7zip or WinRAR to extract each mod and place it where instructed.

Skip Mod Organizer 2 unless you know exactly what you’re doing, OpenMW’s workflow is simpler and cleaner.

Use the CFG Generator to manage your mod setup and avoid conflicts.

Finish with the recommended tools, like DeltaPlugin, Groundcoverify, and S3LightFixes. These help polish visuals, merge plugins, and boost performance.

Once you’re done, you’ll have what many people call Morrowind Remastered, same classic feel, but finally running as smooth as it deserves.

The Best Morrowind Mods in 2025 (and Beyond)

So, what are the best Morrowind mods in 2025 and beyond? You don’t need hundreds of them to transform the game, just the right ones. These will give you the perfect balance of visual upgrades, stability, and respect for the original art style.

Unofficial Morrowind Official Plugins Patched
Fixes all the old plugin issues from Bethesda’s original releases and merges them for compatibility.

Vanilla Style HD Icons for Attributes and Skills
Polished, hand-drawn icons in high resolution. Looks great in 4K and on modern UI scales.

Loading Screens Diversified
Replaces old splash art with widescreen-friendly images, adding new ones in the same style.

If you’re aiming for the best way to play Morrowind in 2026, these core mods are your foundation.

Even something as simple as a stone wall shows how far Morrowind can go with texture overhauls

Expanding the Base Game

Once your visuals and performance are sorted, you can expand Morrowind’s world. These mods add cut quests, lore fixes, and new artifacts, all without breaking the original tone.

Morrowind Comes Alive
Adds over 1200 new NPCs to towns and wild areas, making the world feel truly alive.

For players who want something that feels like a director’s cut, these are the go-to picks.

The Artifacts Reinstated mod brings back dozens of unique items cut from the original Morrowind, giving players new reasons to explore its forgotten dungeons and temples.

Exploring New Lands: Skyrim and Cyrodiil in Morrowind

If you’ve ever searched how to visit Skyrim in Morrowind, you’ll be happy to know it’s possible, and it looks incredible.

Tamriel Rebuilt
Expands the mainland of Morrowind Province. It’s official-quality worldbuilding, still growing every year.

Project Cyrodiil
Adds part of the Imperial Province of Cyrodiil, complete with quests, cities, and new landscapes.

Skyrim: Home of the Nords
Brings Skyrim’s northern lands into the Morrowind engine, 100+ quests, handcrafted towns, and fully compatible with the other two projects.

These three projects combine into one gigantic open-world experience that feels like a fan-made Elder Scrolls prequel.

The Total Overhaul Mod List (Morrowind Remastered 2025 Edition)

If you’re after the ultimate experience, the one people call Morrowind Remastered or “Morrowind 2025 Edition”, then the Total Overhaul Mod List is what you want.

It includes around 600 mods that replace nearly every mesh and texture, add new lands, revamp gameplay systems, and even overhaul animations. Think of it as a full Morrowind total conversion that still respects the original design.

You’ll get:

High-resolution textures and normal maps

Major landmass and quest additions

Improved character models

New lighting and weather systems

Smoother combat and UI

It’s massive, but if you’ve got the patience, it’s the closest thing to a true Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Remaster.

Tips for New Morrowind Players in 2025

If you’re jumping into The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for the first time in 2025, there’s a good chance you’ll be coming from Skyrim or even Starfield, and that’s fine. Just know this isn’t a modern hand-holding RPG. Morrowind expects you to read, explore, and fail a bit before you succeed. Here are a few tips for new Morrowind players that’ll make your first playthrough smoother:

1. Use OpenMW right from the start.
It’s the best way to play Morrowind on a modern PC. Better performance, widescreen support, post-processing, and active development make it the foundation for any modern setup.

2. Install essential mods, but don’t overdo it.
Start with Morrowind Enhanced Textures, Tamriel Rebuilt, and Artifacts Reinstated, they improve visuals and add content without breaking the original balance. Avoid hundreds of mods until you’ve played the base experience.

3. Read everything.
The journal, quest notes, even random dialogue, they matter. There’s no quest compass here, and most directions are hidden in the text. That’s part of what makes the world feel alive.

4. Don’t panic when you miss.
Early combat feels rough because dice rolls decide your hits. Boost your weapon skill or use magic until you get comfortable. It gets better quickly.

5. Save often, explore slowly.
Morrowind rewards curiosity and punishes carelessness. Save before diving into ruins, and don’t be afraid to wander off the beaten path, the best stories aren’t marked on your map.

In short, take your time. Morrowind in 2025 isn’t just an old RPG running on OpenMW, it’s a world built on patience, curiosity, and discovery.

Wrapping Up

Morrowind in 2025 isn’t just surviving, it’s thriving. Thanks to OpenMW and a passionate modding community, you can easily play Morrowind on Windows 11, explore new regions, and enjoy a modernized experience without losing the original charm.

Whether you want a lightweight visual upgrade or a total overhaul mod list that turns it into something new, the tools are all there, free, open-source, and evolving year after year.

Truth be told, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has aged better than most modern RPGs. With OpenMW leading the charge, it’ll probably still be one of the best RPGs to play in 2025 and beyond.

The post How to Play The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in 2025 first appeared on GamingFoundry.

If you’re a gaming creator on YouTube, then you may have just heard the rumble: YouTube’s new age-restriction rules are coming, and they’ll hit gaming videos hard. I’m not an expert who sits in YouTube’s inner circle, but I’ve dug into the change and I feel like this is one of those times where you either adapt… or your views go take a dive.

Here’s the deal: YouTube will start age-restricting more gameplay footage that depicts graphic violence (especially when realistic human characters are involved) and certain gambling/skins-cosmetic content.
So if you run a gaming channel and depend on reach, discoverability and ad money, YouTube’s new age-restriction rules are something you’d better understand. In this article, I’ll walk you through what’s changing, why it matters, what content is at risk, and, most importantly, what you can do to stay visible.

What exactly is changing?

First up: the headline change. Starting 17 November 2025, YouTube will tighten its policy and actively flag gameplay videos that show “realistic human characters” in scenes of mass violence, torture, or extreme gore. If your clip crosses that line, YouTube will slap an age-restriction label on it, blocking under-18 or signed-out viewers, cutting it from promotions, and burying it in recommendations. Embedded players may even refuse to load it. The platform’s own help desk spells it out clearly: “Age-restricted videos are not viewable to users who are under 18 years of age or signed out.”

Moreover, the context is that it’s not just about the game rating; YouTube states that it will consider the length of the violent scene, whether the camera zooms in on human-like victims, and whether the violence is the main focus rather than incidental.
So, when you plan your uploads, keep in mind that YouTube’s new age-restriction rules aren’t vague, they’re targeted at high-risk content. This isn’t every shooter or horror game, but there are red flags.

Even the undead need a privacy filter, YouTube says blur before you bite!

Why gaming creators should care

In my opinion the reason this matters is two-fold: reach loss and monetisation impact.
If your video gets flagged under YouTube’s new age-restriction rules, it will:

Be hidden from under-18s and logged-out users, which shrinks your audience.

Likely see reduced discovery (recommendations and search placement suffer).

Be less attractive for advertisers and sponsors (age-restricted content often has fewer ads or limited ad types) – YouTube states age-restricted videos “may have limited or no ad monetization.”
If you’re running a smaller channel, pushing simply for views/subscribers, you cannot afford to ignore these rules. One risky upload and you may trigger a pattern of reduced performance.
I’ve seen creators in forums say things like > “my video got age-restricted and my channel hit a wall” Reddit
So yeah: this is serious. You’re not just following YouTube’s policy for the sake of it; you’re adjusting your business model.

What to watch out for (red flags)

Here are the kinds of content pieces that raise the risk under YouTube’s new age-restriction rules:

Focus on gameplay that tortures or massacres realistic human characters, or violently targets non-combatants. If your video emphasizes these scenes rather than showing them briefly, YouTube will flag it as high-risk.

Thumbnails or intros that zoom in on gore, dismemberment, or graphic shots of violence. Because camera focus and duration matter.

Videos promoting or linking to skin-cosmetic gambling, NFTs, or unapproved digital-goods gambling mechanics (YouTube’s policy also expands into “digital goods like skins” in this update).

Long or compilation videos whose main draw is “most graphic moments” (think “Top 10 most brutal kill-streaks in Game X”). These tend to get flagged under previous versions of the age-restriction policy.

Older uploads you thought were fine, YouTube reserves the right to age-restrict previously uploaded videos under these new rules. So your history matters too.

Vampires also have to play by the rules, blurred bites only on YouTube

Practical steps you can take (your adaptation plan)

Okay, here’s where I shift from “why you should care” to “what you can do”. Because you’re in control. Here’s how I’d approach it.

Audit your recent uploads – Go back and check your last 10-20 videos. Ask: “Does this video heavily focus on graphic violence or skin-gambling?” If yes, consider either editing or archiving.

Careful with thumbnail & intro – Make sure the thumbnail doesn’t show gore-heavy frames, don’t lead with a violent montage in the first 20-30 seconds. Keep your hook strong but not graphic.

Use blur/crop/edit tools – When a violent scene dominates your video, blur or cut it, shorten the clip, or zoom out to make it less graphic—YouTube specifically recommends these as compliance tools.

Diversify video types – Don’t rely only on high-intensity gameplay. Mix in commentary, walkthroughs, strategy, non-violent sections of a game. That way the channel risk is spread.

Label or self-restrict when appropriate – If you’re certain a video crosses the line, you might proactively mark it 18+ (age restrict) which is better than surprise manual restriction.

Monitor analytics and community feedback – If you see a drop in views or YouTube flags your video, learn from that instance: what triggered it? Was it a specific game scene, thumbnail, title?

Stay updated – These policies will evolve. Keep checking YouTube help pages and gaming-creator forums for real-world cases. For example, “gaming content and YouTube’s community guidelines” gives a good summary.

How YouTube’s New Age-Restriction Rules Affect Games

Video concept

Risk level

Why / What to adjust

“Ultimate Kill-Streak Montage in Battlefield 6”

High

Lots of violent human targets + graphic focus → shorten, blur highlights

“Cult Of The Lamb Let’s Play”

Lower

Less realistic violence, non-human characters → safer under YouTube’s new age-restriction rules

“Case-opening reaction video for Counter Strike”

Medium-High

Skin/loot/gambling layer = risk zone → remove promo links, ensure transparent, reduce gambling imagery

What this means moving forward

Truth be told, YouTube’s new age-restriction rules represent a shift in how gaming creators need to think. It’s not just the game you pick, it’s how you frame it, edit it, and package it. If you lean into ultra-violent, montage-heavy, skin-gambling content exclusively, your discoverability may shrink.
But here’s the silver lining: early adopters win. If you make your next few uploads “safe-by-design” (non-graphic hooks, careful thumbnails, diverse content), you’ll be ahead of creators who ignore the change and then scramble when their views tank.
Also, this could force you to be more creative. You might explore behind-the-scenes, developer interviews, indie games with less graphic focus, and commentary-heavy formats. That diversity can build a more resilient channel.

RimWorld in all its glory… or maybe just a big gray blur. YouTube wouldn’t approve of the carnage anyway!

Conclusion

In short, YouTube’s new age-restriction rules are real. They matter for gaming creators who depend on reach and monetization. But they’re not a death sentence. With a little foresight, a few edits, and a tweak in strategy, you can stay visible, maybe even thrive.
So here’s your action: this week, audit your last 20 videos, update thumbnails where needed, plan your next video with “low-risk/high-reach” in mind, and schedule follow-up content around games/scenes that won’t get flagged. Treat this as an opportunity, not just a problem.

Here’s What Gaming Creators Really Want to Know

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow" open>
Q1: Will all gaming videos get age-restricted under YouTube’s new age-restriction rules?

A: No. YouTube focuses on videos with realistic human characters in violent or graphic scenes, or content promoting skin/cosmetic gambling. Most gameplay, commentary, or cartoonish violence is safe.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow" open>
Q2: How do YouTube age restrictions affect monetization for gaming channels?

A: Age-restricted videos often show fewer ads, have limited ad formats, and reduce appeal for sponsors. Small channels relying on discoverability may see drops in views and revenue.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow" open>
Q3: Can YouTube retroactively age-restrict videos I uploaded before November 2025?

A: Yes. YouTube may review and flag older uploads that violate the updated rules, though these usually don’t trigger strikes. Proactive editing can prevent surprises.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow" open>
Q4: What triggers age restriction for gaming videos on YouTube?

A: Main triggers include graphic violence, torture, massacres of realistic human characters, or promotion of skin-based gambling. Thumbnails and intros showing these scenes also increase risk.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow" open>
Q5: Do age restrictions apply differently to livestreams vs uploaded gaming videos?

A: YouTube primarily applies these rules to uploaded content. Livestreams may be monitored for similar violations, but policies are enforced differently in real-time broadcasts.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow" open>
Q6: How can I avoid age-restriction while still uploading gameplay with action or combat?

A: Focus on camera angles, shorten or blur graphic moments, avoid overly zoomed-in gore, and mix in commentary or non-violent sections. Proactive self-restriction is better than waiting for YouTube to flag content.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow" open>
Q7: Which upcoming games are most likely to trigger age restriction on YouTube?

A: Games with realistic human characters and intense violence, like Grand Theft Auto VI or hyper-realistic shooters, have higher risk. Cartoonish or stylized titles remain safer under the new rules.

Getting to the space anomaly in No Man’s Sky is a major milestone. It unlocks multiplayer missions, research trees for your base, multitool, and exosuit, plus the option to claim expedition rewards and earn nanites for your discoveries. But how to get to the space anomaly in No Man’s Sky exactly? Let’s go step by step.

Quick Guide: Finding the Space Anomaly

Start the game and complete the initial tutorial tasks.

Repair basic ship systems and upgrades to your multitool.

Progress the main quest until you are asked to build a small base.

Craft and install a hyperdrive on your ship.

Learn how to create Warp Cells and stock up on at least one.

Open the galaxy map and pick any yellow star within range.

Fuel your hyperdrive and make your first warp jump to another system.

Continue the story until you meet Artemis.

After your next launch, watch for the transmission from Nada or Polo.

When prompted, you will be able to summon the space anomaly.

While in space, open the quick menu and select “Summon Anomaly.” Ensure the area is clear.

Fly into the anomaly to access Nexus missions, vendors, and multiplayer features.

Optional fast route (pre-order owners):

Redeem bonus content in Options > General to claim the Horizon Omega Starship.

Use the Horizon Omega to warp immediately. That will trigger the anomaly sequence faster.

Follow the Main Quest to Unlock the Anomaly

You begin your journey on a random planet with your ship in ruins. The tutorial will guide you through basic repairs and multitool upgrades. Keep following the main questline. That’s the only reliable way to reach the space anomaly.

At one point, you’ll be asked to build a small base and craft a hyperdrive. Once you install it and learn how to make Warp Cells, you can fuel the drive and travel to another system. Open your galaxy map, pick any yellow star in range, and make the jump. The anomaly doesn’t appear before this first warp, no matter how long you stay in your starting system.

When Do You Get to the Space Anomaly?

After that first jump, continue the story until you meet Artemis. A bit later, once you launch into space again, you’ll receive a message from Nada and Polo, the travelers who run the No Man’s Sky space anomaly. That’s your invitation.

From then on, you can summon it from almost anywhere. Open the quick menu while in space and choose “Summon Anomaly.” Make sure the area around you is clear. Inside, you’ll find upgrade vendors, mission terminals, and other players.

Reaching the anomaly isn’t just about upgrades. You’ll also need access to it if you plan to get to the core of the galaxy quickly. (There’s a full guide on that here.)

Faster Method: Horizon Omega Starship

Some players can skip the early grind. If you bought the game before launch, you may have the Horizon Omega Starship. It’s a bonus ship equipped for interstellar travel right from the start. It already has a hyperdrive, pulse engine, deflector shield, photon cannon, and phase beam.

To redeem it, open the Options menu, go to General, scroll down, and select “Redeem Bonus Content.” Once you claim it, you can warp immediately, triggering the first appearance of the space anomaly much faster.

Where Is the Space Anomaly?

After it’s unlocked, you can summon the space anomaly in almost any star system. Inside, you’ll find the Nexus for multiplayer missions, vendors that trade nanites for upgrades, and terminals for expedition rewards. It also acts as a shared hub for meeting other travelers and browsing featured bases.

If you’re wondering where the space anomaly actually is, the answer is simple. It’s not fixed in one place. You can call it whenever you’re in open space.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been asking how to find the space anomaly or when do you get to the anomaly, the answer comes down to one thing: follow the main quest until your first warp. After that, everything unlocks naturally. The space anomaly becomes your hub for upgrades, missions, and faster travel through the galaxy.

Take your time early on, explore a bit, and get comfortable with your ship. Once you reach the anomaly, No Man’s Sky truly opens up.

Not long ago, players could add guns in Worldbox only through mods, relying entirely on community creations for modern firepower. That’s changed. Now we can get not one but two guns in the base game, and they’re easily some of the best weapons in Worldbox, both in raw power and sheer fun factor. The best part? Getting them is easier than you’d think. Like most things in Worldbox, all it takes is a bit of setup and a couple of key achievements.

Step One: Preparing to Unlock Guns in Worldbox

Before you can get the shotgun in Worldbox, you’ll need to unlock two things: the Crystal Sword and the Assimilator.
Getting the Crystal Sword is simple: create a crystal biome, watch one spawn, click it, and you’ve unlocked it. You can now summon them whenever you like. Unlocking Assimilators is even easier. Drop a Cybercore anywhere, wait a few seconds, and a few will appear. Click them too, and you’re set.

Trending
Pragmata by Capcom: New Trailer Reveals Stunning Sci-Fi Gameplay

Step Two: How to Unlock the Gunblade 2.0 Achievement

Now it’s time for the real fun. Pause the game, spawn a single Assimilator, and surround it with several Crystal Swords. I recommend doing this inside an arena or behind a mountain wall to keep things contained.
Before letting the battle begin, edit the Crystal Swords’ species and add the Prefrontal Cortex subspecies trait. That’s what allows them to actually pick up guns. Once that’s done, unpause and watch the fight unfold. When one of your Crystal Swords defeats the Assimilator, it’ll grab the weapon, unlocking the Gunblade 2.0 achievement. From that point on, you’ll be able to spawn the shotgun in Worldbox directly using the Loot Ray or Equipment Editor.

How to Get the Alien Blaster in Worldbox

The alien blaster in Worldbox takes more patience but less micromanagement. To unlock it, you need the Armory Curator achievement, which requires finding 80 unique pieces of equipment.
It might sound like a grind, but it’s actually pretty manageable. Just create a large world, spawn several intelligent species, and let them develop naturally. Check on random units now and then, hover over their gear, and note anything new. Eventually, you’ll reach 80 unique items, and the game will reward you with the alien blaster in Worldbox, arguably the best weapon in Worldbox, depending on your style.

Why Guns in Worldbox Change Everything

Once you have both the shotgun and the alien blaster, you’ll basically own the most powerful tools available. And if you’re chasing 100% completion, these weapons make some of the toughest achievements far easier.

If you want to learn how they can help you in unlocking the hardest achievement and gain access to the immortality trait, just click here.

Achievements in WorldBox aren’t just bragging rights; they unlock creatures, traits, religions, and all sorts of chaos-fueled toys. But the King of Kings achievement? That’s the one most players call impossible. Truth be told, it’s not as hard as it looks; you just need to know how to bend the game a little.

Quick Steps: How to Get the King of Kings Achievement

Start small: Create the smallest world to keep things manageable.

Prep the world: Turn off hunger and aging in world laws to simplify life.

Spawn and edit: Spawn an orc, edit him for positive traits, and let him found a village so he becomes king.

Breed traits: Use Smooth Jazz to spawn children that inherit traits and pick the best heir.

Arena setup: Put your chosen orc in a walled arena, bless him, and save before fights.

Farm combat traits: Spawn an Evil Mage and a Dragon, weaken them, and kill them to gain Mageslayer and related traits.

Add Kingslayer: Spawn a human kingdom and defeat its ruler to earn Kingslayer.

Get immortality: Use Shield and repeated Lightning strikes to get immortality and energized; this is how to get the immortality trait in WorldBox.

Fill remaining traits: Use grasshoppers, weak elves, or controlled damage to hit 20 traits. Avoid Madness, or the king will lose status.

Claim it: Open the Orc King’s character menu to trigger the King of Kings achievement.

Trending
HORSES banned from Steam – Valve leaves devs in the dark

Step One: Build Your Future King

To get the King of Kings achievement in WorldBox, start small, literally. Create the smallest world possible, spawn an orc, and tweak the world laws. Turn off hunger and aging to make your life easier. Now open the orc’s editor and stack him with as many positive traits as you can.

Once he starts building a village, he officially becomes a king. That’s your cue. Use the Smooth Jazz power to make him spawn children; those orclings will inherit some of his traits. You’ll probably find one that has twelve or even thirteen traits already. Keep that one and remove the rest, this guarantees your chosen orc becomes king.

Step Two: Add the Rare Traits

Now comes the grindy but fun part. Drop your orc king into an enclosed arena, mountains or walls work fine. Bless him to reduce the odds of accidental death, then save your game (you’ll thank yourself later). Stop time and spawn an Evil Mage. To make the fight fair, give the mage weak traits or even melt him a bit with acid.

Next, equip your orc with good armor and a weapon, a bow or shotgun if possible (learn how to get it here), using the Loot Rain ability. When ready, unpause and watch your orc destroy the mage. This adds the Mageslayer trait. Heal him up with Blood Rain, then do the same with a Dragon for an extra trait.

After that, spawn a human, let him build his own kingdom, and bring him into the arena. When your orc takes him down, he’ll gain the Kingslayer trait, another step toward unlocking the King of Kings achievement.

Step Three: Stack and Secure 20 Traits

At this stage, your orc should have around 17 or 18 traits, especially if the Evil Mage burned him (which grants the Skin Burns trait). If you’re short, don’t panic; there are plenty of ways to hit 20.

Spawn some grasshoppers and kill them to gain the Veteran trait. Then, use Shield Power on your orc and repeatedly strike him with Lightning until he gains Immortality and Energized traits. It’s about a 20% chance per strike, so stay patient. This is also a neat trick if you just want to gain Immortality in Worldbox.

Once he’s immortal, wait a bit, aging eventually adds the Wise trait. If you still need more, spawn weak elves to attack your orc. Every hit has a 2% chance to grant Crippled or One-Eyed. Keep him alive with Blood Rain, and you’ll easily cross the twenty-trait mark.

Pro tip: Do not use Madness. It’ll strip his title and void the achievement. You can, however, try Zombie Infection or Mush Spores.

Step Four: Claim the Achievement

After stacking 20 traits, open your Orc King’s character menu. If you did everything right, the game will pop up the King of Kings achievement instantly.

Bonus Tips

Small worlds load faster and make tracking your orc easier.

Always save before spawning enemies; random death can ruin your day.

Final Thoughts
Unlocking the King of Kings achievement in WorldBox looks intimidating, but it’s all about smart setup, patience, and a bit of chaos magic. Once you’ve pulled it off, your immortal orc isn’t just a king; he’s basically a god. And let’s be real, that’s exactly the point of WorldBox.

If you’ve ever looked up at the stars in No Man’s Sky and thought, “How do I actually get to the middle of all this?”, you’re not alone. The galactic core is the ultimate goal, but the journey there can take forever if you don’t plan smart. So here’s the fastest way to the galactic core, a shortcut-packed method that works even in Permadeath mode.

Quick Checklist: Fastest Way to the Galactic Core

Unlock the Anomaly to access upgrade blueprints and core travel features.

Collect Nanites early by scanning and uploading discoveries; you’ll need them for tech.

Buy Cadmium and Emeril Drives to travel through red and green star systems.

Find a Traveler in a space station and pay 100 Nanites for their grave location.

Unlock your first portal glyph — it’s all you need for this fast way to the Galactic Core method.

Get a Planetary Chart from a Cartographer to locate a Monolith and reveal a portal.

Use the portal with your glyph to warp close to the galactic center.

Install warp upgrades and make short jumps toward the galactic core.

Survive Permadeath mode by managing hazards and keeping your life support topped up.

Optionally use a teleporter in the Anomaly to reach a friend’s base near the galactic center.

Step 1: Unlock the Anomaly and Prep for the Fast Way to the Galactic Core

You can’t start this route without unlocking the Anomaly. If you don’t know how, I’ve got anoth er guide for that. While heading toward it, scan and upload everything; it’s the best way to stack up Nanites, the secondary currency used to unlock new upgrades and tech. (There is a whole guide about Space Anomaly here.)

By the time the Anomaly unlocks, you should have enough nanites to grab the Cadmium Drive and Emeril Drive blueprints. These two are crucial if you want the fastest way to the galactic core, since they let you warp through restricted star systems later on.

Step 2: Find a Traveler to Get to Galactic Center Faster

Next, hunt down a Traveler, those ghostly, holographic beings you see in space stations. Jump from one to another until you spot one. While you’re there, pick up a cheap ship and an extra multi-tool to keep your main gear safe later.

When you find a Traveler, pay 100 Nanites for the location of the Unknown Grave. Go there and unlock your first portal glyph. That one symbol is all you need for this fast way to galactic core route.

Step 3: How to Find Teleport in No Man’s Sky and Locate a Portal

Now we’re getting to the good part: how to find teleport in No Man’s Sky that gets you close to the galactic core. You’ve got two options:

Fly low and hope you randomly spot a portal.

Or, better idea, buy a Planetary Chart from the Cartographer on a space station.

Use those charts until you uncover a Monolith. Answer correctly, and it’ll give you portal coordinates.

Once you find the portal, switch to your cheaper ship and multi-tool, input your one glyph, and step through. You’ll land in a system much closer to the galactic center than usual, perfect for anyone trying to reach the center of the galaxy fast.

Step 4: Warp Toward the Galactic Core

Time to move. With your Emeril Drive installed, start making short warp jumps toward the core. You’ll see the distance drop each time. If you keep this up, you’ll be right next to the galactic center in a fraction of the time most players spend grinding story missions.

This is the fastest way to the galactic core because it cuts out everything unnecessary, no waiting, no RNG headaches, just smart planning.

Get to Galactic Core on Permadeath

Playing on Permadeath? It’s still doable. You just have to stay sharp. Systems drain faster, hazards hit harder, and every mistake counts. Keep life support and hazard modules ready, move efficiently, and don’t waste time wandering.

With this strategy, you can get to galactic core on permadeath in under five hours if you stay focused. It’s dangerous, but that’s part of the fun.

Optional: Reach the Center of Galaxy Using Player Teleports

If you’d rather skip all that, you can just use another player’s teleporter. A lot of veteran travelers have bases near the galactic core, and you can warp to them instantly.

Ask around the Anomaly, someone always has a base near the galactic center. Use their teleporter, and boom, you’ve basically reached it without any grind.

If you can’t find anyone, I’ve got a base just one warp away from the Euclid Galaxy core in Permadeath. Add me on Steam (friend code 82739946) and I’ll give you a lift.

Why This Is the Fastest Way to the Galactic Core

Most guides tell you to grind missions, gather fuel, and play the long game. That’s fine, but this is about efficiency. One glyph, two drives, and a few well-timed jumps, that’s the fastest way to the galactic core.

Whether you’re trying to get to galactic center for the achievement, start a new galaxy, or just prove you can survive Permadeath, this method works every time. Simple, fast, and effective.
